And we’re off! MIT Sloan team Heads to Cambodia & Indonesia
By Priya Parker
After five weeks of studying financial innovation in the social sector, hearing from speakers, and on conference calls with our host organizations, our 21-student and 2-faculty team is leaving tonight for our 2-week trip to Cambodia and Indonesia. Over the next 2 weeks our team will be spending time getting hands-on experience with organizations in Cambodia and Indonesia.
We hope to use this blog as a means to capture our experiences, share our learnings, describe the organizations and products we’re exploring, and as an outlet to reflect and process all of it.
Some of the big questions that have arisen over the last semester have included:
- What kind of financial innovation mitigates risk? What kind exacerbates it? What is responsible use of financial innovation?
- What happens when organizations (and students) are able to collaborate across development and finance backgrounds and experiences?
- What tools can be transferred from another country’s experience and which tools (or aspects of tools) must be uniquely structured?
Also, keep an eye out for our upcoming guest posts on Beyond Profit.
Bon Voyage Team Finnovation!
